Which Plan Should I Ask About?
Start with your situation:
| Applying for a Non-Lucrative or Digital Nomad Visa | The Residents visa plan (Residents Visado) |
|---|---|
| Studying in Spain (ages 14–35) | The student plan |
| Living in Spain, no visa cover needed | Resident plans — with or without co-payments (not accepted for visas) |
| A family living in Spain | The family plan (not accepted for visas) |
| Aged 60+ and not applying for a visa | The plan for over-60s (no hospitalisation or surgery; not accepted for visas) |
| EU citizen registering residency | Confirmed with your quote |
Plan details reflect the insurer’s published plan terms, read 24 October 2026. Acceptance always depends on your age and health questionnaire and is never guaranteed. Terms can change, and your quote confirms what applies to you.
Plans for Visa Applicants
Residents (Residents Visado)
Built for non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss nationals applying for Spanish residence. It has no co-payments, cover from day one with no waiting periods, repatriation confirmed on the certificate and basic dental services included, and it is designed for the Non-Lucrative and Digital Nomad Visas. Acceptance depends on your age and health questionnaire and isn’t guaranteed; your quote confirms it.
A premium visa option
The same visa-suitable cover, plus 90% worldwide reimbursement up to €500,000 a year (subject to the policy terms), extra dental benefits and emergency assistance abroad. It can’t be taken out after age 64, and acceptance depends on your health questionnaire — being a premium option doesn’t make acceptance more likely.
Plans for Residents and Families
For people living in Spain who don’t need cover for a visa application:
Resident plans without co-payments
Comprehensive cover in the insurer’s network, including hospitalisation, with no co-payments. New applicants can join up to age 75. Not accepted for visa applications.
Resident plans with co-payments
The same network and hospitalisation cover, with a small co-payment each time you use a service — usually a lower premium in exchange. New applicants can join up to age 75. Not accepted for visa applications.
Family plan
No co-payments, paediatric care from birth to age 15 and basic dental services included. New applicants can join up to age 75. Not accepted for visa applications.
Worldwide premium plan
No co-payments in Spain plus worldwide reimbursement up to €500,000 a year, including the US, with dental, pharmacy and optical benefits. It can’t be taken out after age 64. Not accepted for visa applications.
Not for visa applications: the insurer’s terms say these plans aren’t accepted for NLV, DNV or residency applications. If you’re applying for a visa, ask about the Residents visa plan. If you’re an EU citizen registering residency, your quote confirms which plan suits your registration.
Self-employed (autónomos)
A registered autónomo paying Spanish social security usually has access to the public system, so private cover is an upgrade for faster access and English-speaking support.
Plan for Students
The student plan
For students aged 14 to 35: no co-payments, no waiting periods, basic dental services included and a certificate in Spanish for visa and university purposes. Your course dates set the policy term, which your quote confirms. See health insurance for the Student Visa.
Plan for Over-60s
A plan for over-60s — no hospitalisation or surgery
Designed for people aged 60 and over, with no upper age limit and no health questionnaire. It doesn’t include hospitalisation or surgery, and it isn’t accepted for the Non-Lucrative or Digital Nomad Visa — so it suits residents who don’t need cover for a visa, for example alongside an S1. See health insurance for retirees.
One Insurance Partner
Our insurance partner quotes policies from a single insurer. You can compare its quote with any other insurer authorised in Spain using our guide to choosing private health insurance. Prices depend on age, province and medical history — see what affects the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which plan do I need for the Non-Lucrative or Digital Nomad Visa?
The Residents visa plan (Residents Visado): it has no co-payments and cover from day one. A premium visa option with worldwide reimbursement is also available, but it can’t be taken out after age 64. For either plan, acceptance depends on your age and health questionnaire and isn’t guaranteed.
Are resident plans accepted for a visa?
No. The insurer’s terms say its resident and family plans aren’t accepted for NLV, DNV or residency applications. They suit people who live in Spain and don’t need cover for a visa.
Which plan suits EU citizens registering residency?
It depends on your circumstances and what your registration office asks for, so your quote confirms which plan suits your registration.
Is there a plan for students?
Yes. The student plan is for ages 14 to 35, with no co-payments, no waiting periods and a certificate in Spanish for visa and university purposes.
Is there a plan for people over 75?
A plan for over-60s has no upper age limit and no health questionnaire, but it doesn’t include hospitalisation or surgery and isn’t accepted for the NLV or DNV. See health insurance for retirees.
Can I get a quote if I live in Navarra or Cantabria?
Unfortunately, we cannot currently arrange health-insurance policies for residents of Navarra or Cantabria.
